Our meeting today was at the Rapid City Public Library. We were hosted by our own Terri Davis, Director of the Library. The library offers numerous programs such as, Lunch and Learns during the school year, kids summer reading programs, home delivery for those unable to come to the library, the Libby app for ebook downloads, and archives. They also have over 40 computers available for use and now have 3D printers and large printers for banners. You can even get documents notarized at the library! At P.E.T.S training last weekend our own Dr. Willis Sutliff gave a report on where we are in fighting polio and that we still need to work on it.  The people are dressed like the Energizer Bunny that goes on and on demonstrating that the fight against polio needs to go on and on until it is banished from the world.

WE ARE PEOPLE OF ACTION.  Several Rotarians participated in Highway 16 Cleanup and Feeding SD this month! Thank you to Dave Dolan and Todd Hyronimus for organizing our Community Action Committee volunteer opportunities.  We cleaned up several miles of highway for  Pennington County's Adopt a Highway Program.   We packed over 5,000 lbs of food for the backpack program for Feeding SD.  

 

       

 

 

Today Interact presented a check for $500 they raised for an art gallery at The School of St. Jude. Way to go and thank you!

Our speaker today was Francine Fortune, Executive Director, SunCatcherTherapeutic Riding Academy. They are a non-profit that provides inclusive equine-assisted therapeutic horsemanship guided by experienced instructors that empowers people with disabilities to flourish and thrive. They have been in the Black Hills for 22 years, located by the Rapid City Airport. Their programs facilitate the unique connection between horse and human to help people with special needs, autism, mental health issues and now are working with veterans. With a 99% volunteer staff they are able to help 70+ people every year. They depend on word of mouth so check them out and pass the word.
