Busy day at Rotary!
• Our speaker today was Diana Nielson, CEO of Mount Rushmore Society (mountrushmoresociety.com). This non-profit society has been around since the 1930’s helping to preserve, promote and enhance the Memorial in partnership with the National Park Service. (NPS). The Society is one of the oldest NPS “friends” organizations, raising millions of dollars for facility improvement, programs and projects. Diana shared some upcoming timelines for the Memorial: $2.5 million redo of the visitor center theatre with updated Audio Visuals; Evening Lighting Program /American 250 Events; 100th Anniversary of the Carving and Update to interpretive exhibits.
• Welcome to new member Pat Roseland. Pat is a retired Anesthesia Nurse and currently serves as a Ward 5 Councilman for Rapid City. Pat is very involved in other organizations in our community.
• We had the 1st place winner of the District 5610 Four Way Test Essay Contest read his essay to us. Congratulations Jace Parkin from Southwest Middle School.
