Saturday night was our annual Children's Home Society of South Dakota Gala at the Hyatt downtown Rapid City. We raised a record $114,000 which goes toward our $500,000 pledge. Thanks to the gala committee for putting on another fantastic event, and to the volunteers that came early to set up and decorate.

Our speaker this morning was Roger Hall, City Engineer at the city of Rapid City. He informed us about the structure and budget of the engineering department which is responsible for roads, water and sewer, traffic flow to name a few. They are looking at putting more roundabouts in Rapid City to improve traffic flow. He touched on the Chapel Hill bridge replacement project. They didn’t receive an $8 million grant this year so the project has been postponed for a year. He feels confident they will get the grant next year. Because the bridge is the only way in or out of this area they will do one side of the bridge at a time.
