Welcome our new member KEVIN DORSMAN.
It all began in a March snowstorm. The first child to Ron and Rose Dorsman...perhaps the excitement, and not the snow, was the reason the 70s Chrysler jumped the curb and came to a rest on the sidewalk in front of the Mitchell hospital. It was a glorious day, and a tremendous storm.
Years later they moved to Rapid City where Kevin would progress through the school system and graduate from Stevens High School. He attended Black Hills State University with a loose plan of attaining an Art degree...or something. He was more concerned with playing music and traveling with "the band." However, he found himself with an Education degree and Majors in both Art and English, and near minors in Psychology and History.
Unwilling to jump into the traditional post-college career path, he continued to play music, manage some small-time bands, promote concerts, and create art. Eventually reality set in, but teaching was not on his radar....it would take almost 20 years before he gave in to the nagging voice in his head.
In the two-decades between rock and roll and today, he worked in banking and insurance where he found himself gravitating to management and staff development, further strengthening the fact that teaching was where he was destined to be.
Today he is happily married with a 23 year-old son and an 18 year-old step daughter, 2 dogs and one cat. He loves teaching, and he still plays music and creates art when he can.
