Our club honored our veterans today.

We also welcomed our newest member, Mary Swanson. Membership chair Jeff Kingbury and her club sponsor Julie Jackson gave her a Rotary pin, 4-way test plaque, and her temporary name tag. Welcome!

Mary Swanson.
Mary is a life-long resident of Rapid City.  Her husband is Bart Swanson and they have 2 adult sons, Broc and Alec.  She retired after 37 years as a Speech/Language Pathologist for the Rapid City Area Schools where she worked primarily with early childhood and with those who are deaf/hard of hearing.  She truly loved being a part of public education but is certainly grateful for the flexibility of retirement.  She has pretty diverse interests but thrives on purposeful work.  Of Rotary she says “It’s not hard to find ways to serve others but Rotary’s impact on our community is obvious.”

Teri Davis, Foundation Chair, spoke to us today about the importance of giving to the Rotary Foundation. The Foundation funds charitable projects Rotary wide. Through the Annual Fund donations are invested for 3 years. After that they are divided between the World Fund and District Designated Funds for our projects. Giving to the Foundation is easy. You can sign up to be a sustaining member and contribute $100 every year. Our club has 21 Sustaining members. You can earn a Paul Harris Fellowship when your donations reach $1,000. We have 58 in our club. The Paul Harris Society is a signed commitment to contribute $1,000+/year. Our club has 15. Every Rotarian Every Year (EREY) is each member of the club contributing $25/year to the Annual Fund.
The easiest way to contribute is online.
