Today we welcomed Maverick Greyhorse who shared information on Lakota Hand Games. These games vary by tribe and we’re originally used to settle disputes between tribes. The Lakota style uses 16 sticks and the team on offense hides the “bones” in their hands. The defense has to guess correctly where the one with a mark is. Sticks are given and taken away with guesses until one team loses all their sticks. Games can last anywhere from 5 minutes to several hours. Today the games are used to bring together community and teach patience.
