The second semester Students of Distinction have been chosen.  See the note below from Sean Binder.    They will soon be receiving their certificates and gift cards.  We hope that the awardees and their families will join us at a "real" meeting when that happens.  Hopefully this fall we will honor all the nominees at a pizza at RCHS.  We are proud to announce the following students:

Rapid City High School is excited to announce the 2019-2020 2nd Semester Rushmore Rotary Club RCHS Students of Distinction. Now more than ever, as our learners are physically (and sometimes mentally) distanced from the classrooms, the Student of Distinction recognition has truly been a bright spot. Typically leaners are surprised in class by the Rotary Award Patrol. With school buildings being closed, more creative avenues where taken. Shayla Wood, our 12th grade winner, was surprised in front of peers and staff as she lined up to be filmed for the Virtual Graduation. Our 10th and 11th grader winners, Rylei Paulson and Shasta Farmer, received a call home from the school and celebrated with family. Kaylee Wood, our 9th grade winner, was asked to attend a daily Zoom meeting with her Advisor. There she was surprised to find extra staff members in attendance ready to celebrate the good news with her.

In addition to being celebrated, these learners' pictures will be proudly displayed in the main hallway of RCHS for the coming year. They will also receive from the Rushmore Rotary Club a gift card and certificate recognizing their hard work. We look forward to personally introducing these distinct learners and their families to you in the Fall of 2020 when the learners return to school and in-person meetings resume. Thank you for all your continued support of RCHS learners.

Respectfully-
